About Juan Gonzalez | Executive Leadership Coach

About the Coach Behind Cognitura

I'm Juan Gonzalez, the coach behind Cognitura. I work with founders and leaders navigating a demanding professional shift: from doing the work to leading through people, and the weight that comes with real authority.

The coaching is built on Pattern Intelligence — a framework I developed to identify the automatic behavioral pattern each leader brings into their role. That pattern formed long before the leadership position. Under pressure, it runs before a conscious choice can engage. It shapes how you handle conflict, make decisions, delegate, and respond to the people you lead. Every engagement starts there.

How I See Leadership

Every leader has a behavioral pattern that formed early — in response to pressure, uncertainty, or the environment they grew up in. By the time someone takes on a leadership role, that pattern is already well-established. Under pressure, it activates automatically, before any conscious decision about how to respond.

Most leadership development addresses behavior: what to say, how to structure your week, how to give feedback. That's useful, but it doesn't reach the level where the pattern runs. The pattern is faster than any framework you could try to apply on top of it.

Pattern Intelligence works at that level. The PI Assessment identifies which pattern is dominant for you, how it formed, what it costs you, and where it overrides your judgment. That profile is the foundation of the coaching engagement — what every session returns to.

Why I Do This Work

Before coaching, I spent over 15 years in lending and finance working directly with founders and leaders navigating real financial pressure. Not theoretical pressure — the kind tied to payroll, covenants, and decisions made with incomplete information.

What I kept noticing was that the leaders who handled it best weren't always the most technically skilled. They were the ones who could stay clear under pressure, make calls without waiting for certainty that wasn't coming, and lead their people without transmitting their own stress.

What got in the way of that capacity wasn't always a skill gap. It was an automatic behavioral pattern — running before a conscious choice could engage. That observation is what led to Pattern Intelligence.

How I Work With Clients

Before the first session, you complete the PI Assessment. Week 1 begins with the results — we name your pattern, look at where it shows up in your current leadership context, and establish what we're working toward.

From there, the sessions follow what's actually live for you. A decision sitting unresolved. A conversation you've been avoiding. A dynamic with your team that keeps repeating. The pattern is what every session returns to. When it activates in a real situation, we can name it precisely and work with it in real time.

I don't consult, advise, or tell clients what to do. My role is to help you see the pattern clearly enough that a different choice becomes possible.

My Training and Perspective

My coaching draws on three areas of formal training.

In executive and organizational coaching, I hold dual certifications through ICF-accredited programs at Symbiosis Coaching: Certified Executive Coach (CEC) and Certified Organizational Development Coach (CODC). These programs grounded me in the frameworks, ethics, and professional methodology of executive and organizational coaching.

In positive psychology and emotional management, I hold an expert degree from the Instituto Europeo de Psicología Positiva in Madrid, Spain — grounded in PERMA, Flow, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and Positive Psychology 2.0. This training informs how I understand what sustains leaders under pressure, what depletes them, and what builds the psychological foundation for sound judgment.

In organizational mindfulness, I hold multiple certifications through the Institute of Organizational Mindfulness (IOM) and the Institute for Organizational and Social Mindfulness (IOSM) — including the Mindful Leadership Certification (IOM-ML), Organizational Mindfulness Certification (OM), and Organizational Mindfulness Certified Facilitator (IOSM-OMCF). I also had the opportunity to experience the Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute training, a mindfulness program originally developed at Google. This work shapes how I approach the nervous system dimensions of leadership: attention, reactivity, and presence under pressure.

Pattern Intelligence is the proprietary framework I developed from this training base — an instrument and coaching methodology built to identify and work with the behavioral patterns leaders bring into their roles.

An Invitation

If you haven't taken the PI Assessment yet, that's the starting point. It's free, takes 15–20 minutes, and results are delivered by email. If the results resonate, the intro call is where we talk about what to do with them.

The intro call is 30 minutes and free.
